The pieces of computer furniture in this series, despite the visual similarities all have different functions. The green item is meant for a tele-worker, it serves as an office. The white one is used in the temporary accommodation of a graphic design bureau. The red specimen, manufactured for an Internet provider, is used as a stand at trade fairs. The graphic shape of these items of furniture accentuates their robust personality. They don’t fit in with preconceived ideas about furniture but seem, in accordance with the same principles and aesthetic, to function as desk, office or in the guise of a stand at a trade fair. This furniture in other words, is devoid of scale. It has been stripped of all autonomous appeal and seems impervious to a change in surroundings. Despite the doubts of the committee about the De Stijl aesthetic, this entry earns a nomination for its intriguing lack of scale.
